Evaluation from our class

When our opening sequence was shown to the class, they had to write an evaluation for all the opening sequences. This was marked on our, Camera work, selecting mise-en-scene, editing, post production, titles, use of diegetic and non-diegetic sound and producing a sequence that is readable. Also we had a few extra questions to talk about for example, how sucessful is the opening sequence in engaging the audience, is the genre reconisable, outline one outstanding feature and outline one feature to improve. The highest mark we could get is a 4 and the lowest is a 1. When ours was shown we expected a reaction to the meat eating thing and we did around half the class looked away or said 'ewwww'. The majority of the class gave us 4's for our work and the lowest we got was a 3. So we were happy with our results. Everyone said it was engaging but some found the over voice confusing. Everyone recognsized the genre as a horror/thriller. Everyone said the one feature that stood out was the human body (meat) being eaten because it was gore and repulsive. We took out the fake eye close up because many people said it wasn't good. We also changed the titles so they matched the production name 'Departed Rose' and our film name 'Daughter of sin'. We used live type to get this effect of the words being written in a italic handwriting font.
